Summer Solstice

Chapter Three - Transformation.

The Summer Solstice marks the longest day of the year, a moment to celebrate light before we begin the slow return to the colder seasons. The energy of the sun is at its peak, and Pitta dosha - heat, fire, transformation - is most dominant. Spiritually, it represents the fullest expression of solar energy, vitality, and illumination, both physically and metaphorically.

In Ayurveda, each season is represented by a dosha, or energetic quality, and summer is governed by Pitta. Pitta oversees all transformation - from the food we eat that transforms into the nourishment for the body, to the thoughts we think that manifest as actions in the world. This is also a time to practice cooling routines, eat light foods, and stay hydrated, supporting balance in body and mind during the height of summer heat.

We all have all three doshas, yet Pitta is my predominant energy. For many years, I lived in imbalance, burdened by accumulated Vata energy, the force of movement. This made me erratic and unstable. I was constantly filled with ideas I longed to bring into the world, yet I lacked the courage to fully birth them.

Over the past five years, I have transformed my life through learning and healing. This year, I noticed I was unable to rest fully - if at all. I made significant changes to slow down and become more in my being rather than the doing, creating space to create from joy and excitement, rather than pressure and perfectionism.

I can feel, through supporting myself physically and emotionally, the effects of healing in my body, mind, and nervous system. This is opening me back into my true essence of Pitta’s transformation as I realign with my natural constitution, or Prakriti.

I am excited for what 2026 will bring, yet right now I feel deep contentment in this present moment, simply being able to show up for myself in ways I have always struggled with.

I can feel the power of transformation growing from within, beginning to show profoundly in my internal and external life. I am grateful for every opportunity that has come - and is coming - my way to support myself and others on our unique healing journeys back to health and true happiness.

Something has shifted, and it is profound. The subtle changes within me - a relaxed jaw, released shoulders, a calmer mind, and the now safe container I hold myself in - are opening new spaces for ease and balance. I am not perfect; I still face challenges, internally and externally, yet I feel more in tune with returning to a place of calm and stability with ease.

2025 has been an incredible year, and I am deeply grateful for every moment of this year and my life. It has led me here - to this moment - to show up, to surrender, to breathe, and to leap into the unknown of the creation from Self.

I am deeply grateful for this existence and the chance to walk and share this experience with you.

Blessed Solstice and Happy Holidays to you and your family.
